Founding
The Southern Trelawny Environmental Agency (STEA), founded in 1996, works to conserve the Cockpit Country, one of Jamaica’s most unique and ecologically important regions.
Core Mandate
We aim to protect this vital ecosystem from threats like bauxite mining while creating sustainable economic opportunities for Cockpit Country communities.
Key Initiatives
STEA's programs in eco-tourism, conservation awareness, environmental education, and community capacity building gives residents tools to sustainably use the natural heritage of Cockpit Country
