The aim of this project is to improve the capacity of key communities in the Cockpit Country buffer zone to contribute to conservation of this important landscape in Jamaica. To achieve this objective the main goals of the project will be:

1. To develop a working core of aware environmentalists and environmental protection CSOs in 3 communities within Cockpit Country Landscape to advance environmental awareness & advocacy.

2. Enable meaningful environmental protection and advocacy in 3 target communities that protect the key features of the CC landscape.

3. To undertake a programme of capacity building for fledgling CSOs in 3 target communities that improve their individual and institutional capacity for environmental conservation.

4. To develop a document outlining the intervention strategy, the critical information disseminated, and the important lessons to inform replication of the process in other communities.
